We have several videos involving field work in Curacao, Florida Bay, Saint Joseph Bay and other locations. Acknowledgements to Jeff Godfrey, Dive Officer at UConn, who did most of the filming on location.
The images below are linked to the YouTube video. The only sound on these videos is breathing through the regulator.
Dr. Heidi Dierssen explores a coral reef at Blue Bay, Curacao.
Dr. Heidi Dierssen and student Chris Buonassissi conduct seagrass measurements in Florida Bay.
Dr. Richard Zimmerman (Bio-optical Research Group, Old Dominion University) and Dr. Heidi Dierssen make canopy reflectance measurements in St. Joe Bay, Florida. They are using the Diver Operated Benthic Bio-Optical Spectrometer (DOBBS).
Drs. Molly Cummings and Parrish Brady of UT Austin conduct polarization measurements of silvery fish in Curacao, 2012. They are using a polarization camera to study camouflage strategy in the open ocean. The camera and fish are mounted to an instrument from the City College of New York (Gilerson lab) that measures the polarization state of the ambient light field.
